In a nutshell, what is Custom Player?
Custom Player is your very own software application which you can design to fit with the look and feel of your radio station. It can connect to most live & archived radio streams and will instantly connect and play the stream to your listeners.
It will also keep your listeners informed of whats on air using its live text scroller.
How quick is setup?
We give instant access to the control panel.
You can then customise the look & feel of your player and download the software immediately.
Where will my Custom Player work?
We have designed the software to be as small and widely compatible as possible. It should work fine on nearly all Windows PC's; including XP, Media Centre and Vista.
Currently other operating systems (eg. Mac & Linux) are not supported.
Can I update the design of the player?
Yes - via our realtime customer control panel, where you can edit the colours, station title, logo, website URL, stream URL and text information shown to your users.
For the image and 'live text' information, we also have several advanced options available to update, including SHOUTcast song title, API call and URL call (Good if you have a dynamic page which has been uploaded by automation software or a script which shows who is on air etc).
How will my listeners download it?
You can distribute the program however you like, via a link on your web site, on a CD, via instant messenger - its entirely up to you!
Is it free for my listeners?
We do recommend offering Custom Player as a free download to all website visitors; as it is a great way to build up a large audience base. However, if you like - you can make money by charging them to download it by offering it as a 'premium' service to them.
What happens if my stream URL changes or I want to change the design of it after its been downloaded?
When the player is opened up by your listeners, it checks with us to find out what it should look like and where it should connect.
You can make changes in the control panel even after hundreds of people have got your software on their desktop!
Do you offer discounts for volume licensing?
Yes, we do - please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Can you sponsor my radio station?
Unfortunately we do not offer sponsorship or free licenses; unless you are are a registered charity.
Why do I have to pay?
Custom Player is a 'value added' service - by using it, you might well be adding great value to your radio station by increasing your listener base and gaining more popularity, therefore we ask for a small license fee.
It also costs us money to develop and run. We have coffee, cookies and servers to pay for!
Can I download the source code of the player?
Our software is 'closed source' and not available for editing and the license does not currently include source code rights.
How did you make Custom Player?
Custom Player was developed in the C++ programming language.
